Wayne Dalton roller replacement in Miami typically runs $130 – $260, parts and labor included, and most swaps are done in under an hour. We keep Wayne Dalton-compatible rollers on the truck, so in almost every case we can match the roller to your specific door on the first visit. The part itself is simple; what matters is getting the right stem length and wheel diameter for your model.
Most Miami homeowners discover a roller problem the same way: the door gets louder by the week, then one morning it shudders on the way up and you hear a metallic grinding sound from the track. That’s a roller that has stopped rolling and started dragging. It’s an easy fix at that stage. Left alone, it becomes a bigger job.
Which Wayne Dalton Models This Applies To
Wayne Dalton has built a lot of different lines over the years, and the roller specs are not universal across all of them. The classic 9100 and 9600 series doors, along with the 8000 and 8100 series that followed, use a standard 2-inch nylon roller with a 4-inch stem. But the heavier 9700 and some of the older wood-clad models run a 3-inch wheel with a longer stem. If you put the small stem in the big hinge, the roller rides loose and chews up the tube. We see that mistake on at least one call a month in Miami.
The fastest way to identify your roller is to look at the hinge tube, not the roller. Wayne Dalton stamps their hinge part numbers on the hinge itself, usually starting with “WD” followed by a series of digits. Tell us that number and we’ll bring the right pair. As for brand: OEM Wayne Dalton rollers are fine, but they’re nylon-on-steel bearings just like the aftermarket versions we carry. We stock both and quote both. The nylon wheel lasts about the same either way; what fails first in Miami is the bearing, which rusts from humidity. That’s the real decision point: standard bearing or sealed stainless steel bearing, which adds a few dollars and gets you several more years. More on that below.
Bramwell Garage Doors Miami is an independent service company. We’re not affiliated with Wayne Dalton or any manufacturer, but we stock and install their parts every week.

Signs Your Wayne Dalton Roller Replacement Is Failing
- The door sounds like it’s dragging something across gravel. That’s the steel bearing inside the roller grinding against its own housing. The roller wheel is no longer rotating. Every inch of travel adds flat spots and metal shavings to the track.
- The door shakes or shudders halfway up. One bad roller makes the panel above it torque slightly. The torsion spring is lifting evenly, but a seized roller is fighting the spring. That’s why the shudder comes and goes at the same spot every cycle.
- You see rubber, plastic, or gray dust at the bottom of the vertical track. Nylon rollers shed material as the wheel wears flat. If you wipe the track and the dust returns in a week, the roller is done.
- The door is louder near the floor and near the header. Rollers hit the most resistance at the two corners of the track system, where the vertical and horizontal rails meet. Worn rollers get noisy exactly there first.
- You see visible flat spots or cracks on the wheel itself. Close the door, look at the roller from the side, and if the wheel is anything but round and smooth, replace it. This is the one symptom you can check in 20 seconds from inside the garage.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Here’s the pricing reality for roller replacement in the Miami market, and it’s the same range we quote whether you’re in Kendall or Coral Gables:
- Standard nylon rollers (6 to 10 depending on door size): $130 – $225 installed, including the rollers, labor, and track lubrication.
- Sealed stainless steel bearing rollers: $195 – $260 installed. These add about $8 to $12 per roller and are worth it for Miami’s humidity. We tell every customer the difference and let them decide. No pressure either way.
- Commercial or oversized doors (12-foot wide and up): Add $40 – $75 for the extra rollers and the time to catch a second set of hands.
The number we quote is the number on the invoice. That’s the whole point of the Kingswell Guarantee we work under: a written price before any work starts, a real arrival window, a clean job site, and a written guarantee on every repair. The 365-Day Done Right Promise applies to roller replacement too. If a covered repair fails within a year, we come back and fix it at no charge. It’s in writing, not just a phrase on the van.
DIY or Call Us?
Replacing Wayne Dalton rollers is not a high-tension job in the way torsion springs are, but it’s also not a no-risk job. The bottom bracket on any garage door holds the cable under full spring tension. If you try to swap the bottom roller on your own and that bracket slips, the cable can unwrap fast enough to take off a finger. We don’t say that to scare you; we say it because we have taken calls from people who learned it the hard way.
What you can safely do: inspect the rollers visually. Look for flat spots, cracks, and wobble. That’s a five-minute diagnostic and it tells you whether you need us at all. What we advise against: loosening any bolt that touches a bracket holding a cable. If the issue turns out to be just a noisy roller on an upper hinge, the middle rollers are low-risk for someone with a good set of locking pliers and patience. But you’re still working under a 150-to-300-pound door. If you’re not certain, call us at (850) 673-0645 and we’ll come look. The estimate is free, and if you end up not needing the repair, we’ll tell you that too.
FAQs
Standard nylon rollers on a Wayne Dalton door last 5 to 7 years in Miami’s climate, and sealed stainless steel bearing rollers typically last 10 to 12 years. The humidity and salt air near the coast accelerate bearing rust; that’s the part that dies first, not the nylon wheel. Call (850) 673-0645 if you’re not sure what’s in your door now.
No. The roller is a sealed unit. Once the bearing or wheel goes, the part is replaced, not rebuilt. That’s actually good news, because a roller is one of the least expensive parts on your door. Call us at (850) 673-0645 and we’ll give you an exact price over the phone.
A full set of Wayne Dalton rollers takes us about 45 minutes to an hour, including removing the old pieces, greasing the track, and cycling the door a few times to check the balance. If it’s just one or two seized rollers, figure 20 minutes. Marcus Ellery likes to say this is one of those jobs where the diagnosis takes longer than the fix. We quote the job before we start, and the time we give you is the time we show up in.
Yes. We carry 2-inch nylon rollers with 4-inch stems, 3-inch with longer stems for the heavier Wayne Dalton lines, and both standard and sealed stainless steel bearing versions. The truck is also stocked for LiftMaster, Chamberlain, and Genie openers, so if we spot a secondary issue while we’re replacing your rollers, we can usually address it that same visit. Call (850) 673-0645 and tell us what you’re hearing from the door. We’ll bring the right part on the first trip.
